Day one of training complete.

Out of all the first days of camp, I do have to say it was a bit of an underwhelming experience. Such a tiny amount of people there and not much to catch up on with the ones I did see. I am feeling slightly overwhelmed thinking about all of the things I will learn by Friday’s test over everything.

This summer I am working the Adventure Zone staff, often shortened to AZ. AZ staff is responsible for facilitating: Initiatives, Rockwall, Zip line, High ropes, Power Pole, and the slack line connected from telephone poles 15 feet off the ground. (just as difficult as it sounds.) This means lots of knots to be learned, rope colors to be memorized, and blisters to be ripped open, essentially. (cute, really.)

I guess I am sitting in my kitchen blogging about this and hoping that the longer I stay in this semi air conditioned room the longer this short amount of a “normal summer” will last. Well, at least before sweating is a normal state of being alive for 10 weeks. Maybe this is whining, but maybe I don’t do that very often so i’m letting it slide this time. (thanks, self…and sorry friends)

What I really got to do is enjoy this week. Enjoy missing Garrett, knowing I will see him soon, since this is the last time I will feel that until July. Enjoy meeting new people and seeing people I have not seen in a while. Enjoy learning peoples stories and telling mine.

It’s time to embrace this summer, blisters and all!
